Parents Asked to Monitor Kid’s Online Activity

–The Algona Police Department is warning parents to keep a close eye on who their children interact with online. Last week the department reached out via social media, stating that they have seen an uptick in the number of children who are being solicited online by people they don’t know to do a wide variety of things. Patrolman Mark Bacha is the Sex Crimes investigator for the Algona PD and he says parents need to be vigilant when their children are online.

Bacha says online predators will do anything they can to gain your child’s trust.

Bacha says there are certain things you can do if your child is solicited online to help them catch the perpetrator.

Bacha says another thing parents need to remember is the internet has no boundaries. Living in a mostly rural area won’t protect your child when their online.
