North Union advanced to state with a dramatic finish in its regional final victory over Western Christian. Fittingly, the seventh-seeded Warriors toppled the two seed, Panorama, in a heart stopping 47-46 triumph in the state quarterfinals. This time, it was the sophomore Chloe Lofstrom picking up the go ahead bucket, a free throw with 17 seconds left putting the Top of Iowa-West champions ahead for good by one.
The Panthers had two chances in the closing seconds, one missed opportunity off Lofstrom’s made free throw and another at the buzzer when North Union threw the ball away with four seconds left. Offensively, the Warriors were paced by 14 points from Lofstrom and 13 from senior Sam Hagedorn. See full box score here.
