North Union led most of the game in regulation, but Cascade outlasted the Warriors in triple overtime, 62-53. North led 29-18 at the half, out-rebounding the Cougars 23-15 and holding a 12-6 points in the paint advantage. Ultimately, Cascade finished with a 46-44 edge on the glass. For the game, both teams shot an identical 34.4% from the field. Cascade made just one three in the first half, but sunk five the rest of the game.
The Top of Iowa-West champion Warriors made just their second semifinal appearance in school history, coming up just a few seconds and points short of breaking into the first state title game for the program. Cascade will play in its first state title game since 2009 against Grundy Center on Saturday at 5:00pm in Des Moines.
