Weekend Celebrations in Titonka, Swea City

Victim Identified in Tuesday’s Fatal House Fire

–Officials have identified the woman that was killed in an early-morning house fire Tuesday in Algona. According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department, the deceased is identified as Jessica Lierley Southard of Des Moines. Council Approves HWY 18 Detour

–The Algona City Council approved an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation to close Highway 18 at the intersection with Main Street in late July. Council Fills Vacant Seat

–The Algona City Council filled the open seat left by the resignation of Donna Gruis at their meeting Monday. Brooke Sudol was appointed by unanimous vote to fill Gruis’ seat on the council.
