DESCRIPTION:Iowa Lakes Community College will host an informational session\, Parkinson’s Disease: A Mental Health Approach\, on Thursday\, May 7\, from 4 to 6 p.m. on the Emmetsburg Campus. \nThe session will take place in Room 17 on the Emmetsburg Campus. Cost is $10 for the public and $49 for healthcare professionals seeking CEH credit. \nTo register or learn more\, visit ce.iowalakes.edu or call 800-252-5664. \nThe session is designed to provide a deeper understanding of Parkinson’s disease beyond physical symptoms\, with a focus on the emotional and cognitive challenges individuals may experience. Participants will gain practical knowledge to better support those living with the disease through a compassionate and informed approach. \nDr. Martha Olson will serve as the presenter\, guiding attendees through key topics including disease progression\, movement and non-movement challenges\, pain management strategies\, mental health considerations\, treatment options such as Deep Brain Stimulation\, and the role of interdisciplinary care.
