Day one of the state cross country meet from Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge brought strong performances from both Algona athletes as junior Moriah Knapp ran a new career best time of 17:35 to place 13th and medal in the girls 3A race, while junior Ryan Stundahl made the most of his first career trip to state, tying his career best time of 17:12 and placing 32nd in the boys 3A race.

For Knapp, it marked her 2nd consecutive week of posting career best times, after completing the district race in 17:45 last week. The junior also made a big jump on her performance from last year at state, as in 2020 Knapp placed 51st in a time of 20:32.

Stundahl’s best two times of the season also came in the final two races, after also running a 17:12 at last week’s district meet.
