BG Speech Students Receive High Marks

— Bishop Garrigan Students earned 14 division one and 2 division two ratings at the Iowa High School Speech Association district individual contest held this past Saturday at Newell-Fonda High School.  

Ava Eisenbarth earned I’s for her literary program on “Skiing” and for her poetry selection “Alternate Endings”.  Marguerite Fakler received I’s for her musical theatre entry “Forget About the Boy” and for her prose presentation “The Long Road Home”.  Riley Rosenmeyer earned I’s for her prose selection “Women Are Saner than Men” and also for a review of the movie “Legally Blonde”, and Brooke Ludwig received I’s in both improvisation and spontaneous speaking. 

Also in poetry, Meredith Illg was awarded a I for “Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and Isabella Waechter received a I with “Fairy Tale Reality Check”.  Eva Snyder earned a I for a literary program on justice, Molly Peterson received a I for a review of the classical music piece “Ariette”, Savannah Waechter received a I in acting with “I Fall in Love”, and Benjy Trainer earned a I in improvisation.  Students earning division II ratings were Griffin Geving in prose and Thadd Kollasch in radio news announcing. 

All students who received division one ratings now advance to the state speech contest, which will be held Saturday, March 12, at Woodbury Central High School in Moville.
