–A benefit is being held this weekend to assist a Burt man who lost his wife and home in a February house fire. Firefighters responded to the home of Kevin and Tammy Brown in the early morning hours of February 2nd. The home was fully engulfed when crews arrived. Kevin was able to make it out of the home, but Tammy was unable to do the same. Jodie Hurla is Tammy’s sister, and one of the organizers of the benefit. She tells KLGA News they are trying to help in any way they can, as Kevin did not make it out of the house completely unscathed.

Kevin suffered 3rd degree burns over 30% of his body in the fire. Hurla says they have several activities planned for Saturday afternoon for those in attendance at the Burt Activity Complex.

Hurla says events will begin late afternoon and run through the evening.

Some of the auction items that will be available include a 50” LG TV, a Blackstone Grill and an Orca Cooler. To go along with the auction items, a bake sale will be taking place as well. The benefit will run from 4-8 PM at the Burt Activity Complex and will be a cash only event.
