–The Algona City Council reopened the bidding process for the Central Park Improvement project during their meeting Monday night. Casey Byers is a Principal Landscape Architect with Bolton & Menk, and he addressed the council during a work-session prior to the vote. He says the city did not receive any bids prior to the previous deadline.

Byers says without those numbers, contractors would not be able to provide an accurate bid.

The council approved a resolution that will give contractors four weeks to get a bid submitted to the city.

Bids will now be accepted through April 27th, with some construction timelines pushed back. City Administrator Jacob Tjaden says they plan to award the contract at their meeting on May 1st. The contract will stipulate that there will be work done yet this year, however the overall timeline to complete the project will be pushed later into 2024.
