–An Algona man is being recognized as one of six national winners of the “Volunteer of the Year” award from the Good Samaritan Society. Howard Lacey was honored earlier this week for his years for his years of service to the residents and staff. Joe Bartolo serves as the Administrator of the Good Samaritan Society in Algona, and he says Howard has a knack for connecting with people.

Bartolo says Howard started something recently that has grown to involve countless residents.

Nathan Schema serves as President and CEO of the Good Samaritan Society, and he was on hand to present the national award to Howard.

Howard says his little coffee group started off small.

Howard’s wife Marilyn is a resident at Good Sam, and he can be found there everyday visiting her and other residents. As part of his award, Howard will be recognized along with the other national winners at a ceremony in Sioux Falls later this year.
