–A Kossuth County jury acquitted an area man on charges of sexual abuse Friday afternoon.
26-year-old Rigoberto Mendez had been charged with 3 counts of 2nd Degree Sexual Abuse, following alleged incidents in August of 2021 and November of 2022.
Attorney’s made their closing arguments Friday morning before turning the case over to the jury, who deliberated for a couple hours before reaching their verdict around 2 PM.
The trial began earlier this week with jury selection, while witness testimony wrapped up prior to noon on Thursday.
