Traffic Stop Near Swea City Ends with Charges Against Western Iowa Man

–A Western Iowa man is facing multiple charges in Kossuth County following a traffic stop in the Swea City area Friday night.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies conducted the traffic stop around 7:15 PM Friday, and after a brief investigation, arrested 47-year-old Matthew Levi Evans from Cherokee.

Evans has been charged with OWI-3rd Offense, a Class D Felony, along with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana (1st offense), a Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.

Evans was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance. Online court records show he is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Kossuth County District Court on June 1st.
