–A pair of area drivers were cited following separate accidents in rural Kossuth County over the Memorial Day weekend.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to an accident near Burt around 11:50 PM Sunday. An investigation of the scene revealed that 19-year-old Garrett Edward Goche of Bancroft was northbound on Highway 169 in a 2006 Ford F150 Supercrew Pickup when he lost control and entered the east ditch. The truck overturned in the ditch, coming to rest on the driver’s side.

The accident report states that Goche was located away from the scene and refused medical transport after he was assessed by Algona EMS. He was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and charged with OWI 1st offense. Online court records show Goche is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Kossuth County District Court on June 14th. Damage to his truck was estimated at $5,000.

Just before 4AM Monday, Deputies responded to an accident NE of West Bend. Upon arrival, Deputies determined 27-year-old Heather Fehr of West Bend was southbound on County Road P20 when she crossed the centerline and entered the east ditch. The vehicle drove in the ditch for approximately 100 feet before hitting an embankment, going over the intersection and coming to rest on top of 170th Street.

When Deputies arrived, Fehr was not at the scene, as they were able to locate her a short time later, where she told Deputies she had been texting while driving and had consumed alcohol.

Fehr was cited for Failure to Maintain Control and Use of an Electronic Communications Device. Damage to her vehicle was estimated at $10,000.
