–The Algona School Board gave the go-ahead for the District to secure financing and seek bids for a new fieldhouse project during their meeting this week. Superintendent Joe Carter talked with KLGA News this week and discussed how the district plans on funding this effort.

As part of the financing for the project, the District will be refinancing some of their current debt into the new fieldhouse.

The district approved the issuance of $20 Million in sales tax bonds to finance the project, but Carter says the project itself is estimated at around $12-Million.

Carter also laid out the timeline for project to get rolling.

The new field house would include extra space for Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Wrestling, and would be located on the site of the old Softball field behind the High School/Middle School building.
