–An area ambulance service is looking for new recruits, and encouraging anyone interested in becoming an EMT to sign up for an upcoming class at Iowa Lakes Community College. Trystian Schupbach serves on the West Bend Ambulance Service, and he says their struggles are similar to most rural EMS services that rely solely on volunteers.

Schupbach says the upcoming EMT class would provide anyone interested the chance to become certified.

Schupbach says they have room for anyone that is willing to help out, whether they become an EMT or not.

The class will be held at the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes, running October 16th through March 11th. Classes will be held Monday’s and Thursday’s, from 6:30-9:30 each evening. The cost of the course is $1,880 dollars, and Schupbach says they can provide financial assistance for anyone who would like to join their service. To register, go online to www.iowalakes.edu/ce.
