According to the Iowa State Patrol, 76-year-old Joyce Engstrom from Frontenac, Minnesota passed away this week from injuries suffered in the incident that took place Sunday just before 7PM at the Camp Winnebago Rally.

The accident report states that a 2017 Ford F150 truck, driven by 65-year-old John Connolly of Glenwood, Maryland was driving around the lots hauling a two-axle trailer. The trailer became unhooked from the truck, and the tongue rammed into the hitch as the truck attempted to stop. The trailer then traveled backwards, snapping the safety chain.

Engstrom was riding inside the trailer, and tried to jump off and was drug under the trailer. She was airlifted to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, where she later died of her injuries.

The ISP was assisted by the Winnebago and Hancock County Sheriff’s Departments, Forest City Police and EMS, along with Mercy Air Med.
