Sioux City Man Arrested After Car Chase through Kossuth County

–A Western Iowa man was taken into custody Monday evening after leading local law enforcement on a car chase.

According to the Algona Police Department, Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Chrysler 300 around 7:40 PM Monday. The driver of the vehicle did not pull over after being engaged by Police Officers, and attempted to flee, leading to a chase through parts of southwest Kossuth County that lasted around 20-minutes.

The chase ended north of Whittemore when the suspects’ vehicle collided with a pair of marked law enforcement vehicles, one from the Algona PD and one from the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver, identified as 49-year-old Ronald Lee Moore of Sioux City, was taken by ambulance to Kossuth Regional Health Center before being released to the custody of Algona Police. He is being charged with: Felony Eluding, Interference with Official Acts, Failure to Comply with a Peace Officer, Driving Under Suspension, Reckless Driving, and Four scheduled violations.

The incident remains under investigation, and further charges are pending. Moore was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance.

The Algona Police Department was assisted by law enforcement officials from the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department, Kossuth County EMS, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa DNR, Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Department, and Whittemore Fire/EMS.
