–The new head of the Iowa Democratic Party made a stop in Titonka over the weekend to speak at a fundraising event for local Democrats. Rita Hart was the featured speaker for the Kossuth County Democrats pie auction fundraiser on Sunday, and she talked about the need for party members to step up and lead.
Hart says one of her biggest tasks since taking over the IDP has been collecting data to find out how well the party is organized in each of Iowa’s 99 counties.
Hart says county organization is a huge priority for her, as is increasing voter turnout across the state.
The pie auction fundraiser helps support local candidates and the recently created Dolores Mertz Scholarship fund.
