–A Swea City man is facing a felony charge following a traffic stop near Bancroft late Saturday night.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies conducted the stop about 3 miles north of Bancroft along US Highway 169 just after 11 PM Saturday. After conducting a brief investigation, Deputies arrested 51-year-old Mark Lester Johnson of Swea City.
Johnson is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-3rd or Subsequent Offense, a Class D Felony. He is also facing charges of Obstructing Prosecution or Defense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor, as well of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Interference with Official Acts, both Simple Misdemeanors.
Johnson was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance. Online court records show he is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Kossuth County District Court on November 3rd.
