–A Kossuth County teen suffered only minor injuries when the car she was driving entered the ditch along Orton Road, just south of Algona late last week.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 16-year-old Aubrey Gardalen of Burt was northbound on Orton Road in a 2007 Pontiac sedan just after 4PM this past Thursday. The accident report states that while going down a hill and around a curve, Gardalen’s vehicle hit the shoulder, and as she attempted to get the car back on the roadway, she lost control.
The car entered the east ditch, just south of the bridge that crosses the East Fork of the Des Moines River, where it leaned onto the passenger side after hitting some trees and brush, before coming to rest upright on its wheels. Gardalen reported minor injuries and was transported to Kossuth Regional Health Center by Kossuth County EMS.
A teenage passenger in the vehicle did not report any injuries, as both teens were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Damage to the vehicles was estimated at $4,000.
