–Students at Iowa Lakes Community College received nearly $375,000 in funding this fall from the Future Ready Iowa Last-Dollar Scholarship Program. Last-Dollar Scholarships are meant to bridge the financial gap left by other state and federal funding sources for students in programs that are deemed as being in high demand across Iowa. Stephen Pelzer serves as the Director of Financial Aid at Iowa Lakes, and he tells KLGA News that more students in these qualifying programs are seeking these scholarships.

Pelzer says they want to make sure students in these qualifying programs are aware of the scholarships.

Pelzer says students in several degree programs are applying for these Last Dollar Scholarships.

Since the program was first introduced back in 2019, students at Iowa Lakes have received over $3.5 million in Last Dollar Scholarships. For the fall semester, 212 Iowa Lakes students received funding from the program, with an average award of nearly $1,800. Pelzer says his office can provide more information to students about which programs are eligible for the funding and what the income restrictions are for funding.
