–The Algona School Board received an updated presentation on the district’s certified enrollment during their meeting Monday night. Superintendent Joe Carter told the board that the certified enrollment number is up by a little over 100 students this year.

Carter says the district did not see many students leave for a private school with funding from the newly created Education Savings Accounts.

Carter says the certified enrollment number is up due to the reorganization with the Lu Verne School District. Prior to the reorganization, students from Lu Verne that attended Algona schools were either open enrolled or part of whole grade sharing between the districts, and they did not count towards the certified enrollment figures.
