–An Algona man received a pleasant surprise last week while he was waiting to eat dinner at Hy-Vee. According to the Iowa Lottery, Allen Walker won the 9th top prize in their “$100,000 Mega Crossword” scratch game this past Wednesday. In an interview with lottery officials, Walker says he had to double check his ticket several times.
Walker says he then took the ticket to the customer service counter, so they could scan it and confirm the $100,000 prize.
Walker says he picked up the tickets simply to pass a little time while waiting for his food.
The “$100,000 Mega Crossword” is a $10 scratch ticket that features 46 top prizes of $100,000 and another 92 prizes of $10,000. Walker told lottery officials he plans to invest the majority of his winnings.
