Estherville Lincoln Central 57

-North Union boys basketball is 3-0 and has their first win over Estherville Lincoln Central since 2015 after defeating the Midgets 67-57 last night in Estherville.  After the Warriors led for nearly the entire first half and took a 7 point lead into halftime, the Midgets began the second half on a 9-0 scoring run to take a two point lead.  After the lead changed hands a couple of times in the third, the Warriors went up by five headed into the final quarter after Danyal Fothergill beat the buzzer with a three pointer before the end of the quarter.  The Warriors played lockdown defense in the 4th, holding ELC to 5 points in the frame to hang on for the win.  Fothergill finished with 12 points on 5/7 shooting and 7 assists.  Kody Irmiter scored 20 points and grabbed 8 boards for North Union, while Grady Madden and Aiden Lofstrom both scored 10.  The Warriors would shoot 56% from the field in the victory. Owen Larson had 24 points in the loss for ELC, who falls to 2-1.

Girls Basketball

Estherville Lincoln Central 68
North Union 31

-North Union girls basketball is now 2-1 after losing 68-31 at Estherville Lincoln Central last night.  After trailing 34-18 at the half, the Warriors were buried by a 27-4 scoring run by the Midgets in the third quarter to remove all doubt.  North Union turned the ball over 25 times in the loss, was outrebounded 33-18, and finished 0/7 on three pointers. Rylee Yager scored 27 points for ELC and Haylee Stokes added 16, while Naomi Jones led the way with 12 for North Union, as Jones was the only Warrior above four points. ELC is 4-1 with the victory and has defeated North Union six straight times dating back to 2017.
