Kossuth County Jury Convicts Out of State Worker on Sex Abuse Charges

–A Kossuth County jury has convicted a New Mexico man on two counts of 3rd Degree Sexual abuse following separate incidents at Kossuth Regional Health Center earlier this year.

64-year-old William Eugene Harris was arrested back in August following an investigation into the incidents that occurred in late January and mid-February, while Harris was employed by an outside agency, contracted to work KRHC. The criminal complaint filed in Kossuth County District Court listed Harris as residing in New Mexico, however his arraignment form showed an El Paso, Texas address.

Jury selection began on Tuesday, with testimony heard Wednesday and Thursday before both sides presented their closing arguments Friday morning. The jury received the case around noon on Friday and returned their guilty verdict just at 1 PM.

Harris was convicted on the charges that he inappropriately touched two woman while working as a Echo-Technologist.

Third Degree Sexual Abuse is a Class C Felony, punishable by up to 10-years in prison. Harris will be sentenced at a later date.
