–No injuries were reported following a 2-vehicle collision north of Titonka Monday evening.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, 47-year-old Derek Olson of Buffalo Center was traveling eastbound on County Road A42 in a 2012 Chrysler Van just after 5 PM Monday. While approaching the intersection with 230th Avenue, Olson came upon a 2015 Chevy Traverse, driven by 64-year-old Sherill Meinders of Buffalo Center, that was stopped in the roadway.
Meinders told Deputies that she had missed her turn at 230th Avenue and had stopped to figure out what to do next, when her vehicle was struck from behind by Olson’s. Meinders said that she did not realize someone was behind her when she stopped on the roadway.
Olson told Deputies he attempted to avoid the collision, but his vehicle began to slide on the slick road surface, and he was unable to stop in time.
Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $2,000.
