–Leaders at West Bend-Mallard and Gilmore City-Bradgate Schools held a joint meeting this week to conduct an in-depth look at the sharing agreement between the two school districts. John Zaugg serves as President of the West Bend-Mallard School Board, and he tells KLGA News the meeting Monday evening was a chance to make sure the agreement still met the needs of each district.

The boards did decide to make one change to the sharing agreement during the meeting. Currently Gilmore City-Bradgate sends their students in grades 7-12 to West Bend, but starting next year the agreement will be for students in grades 6-12. Zaugg says it’s a decision that makes sense financially.

The districts also share several administrative positions, which Zaugg says is another decision that makes the most sense financially.

The West Bend-Mallard School Board will interview the two finalists for their Superintendent position at a meeting on February 1st. During their meeting earlier this month, the board identified Johanna Cooper and Paul Peppmeier as the candidates who will receive interviews for the position.
