–The annual Frost Bite Olympics will bring some family-friendly events to Algona beginning Thursday, but the recent stretch of warm weather has one event in limbo. The Ice Fishing Derby is scheduled for Saturday morning at Smith Lake, but Algona Chamber of Commerce Director Vicki Mallory tells KLGA News they will decide later this week if the event can be held as scheduled.
Mallory says she never would have guessed that the event might not be held a few weeks ago.
There is also supposed to be some raffle drawings during the fishing derby, and Mallory says if they decide to cancel the event, the raffle drawings will be held on Friday.
