–The Algona City Council approved the 3rd and final reading of an ordinance that will establish a new fee to cover costs associated with tree maintenance and removal during their meeting this week. City Administrator Jacob Tjaden addressed the council prior to the vote.

Tjaden says the fee will not cover all of the city’s expenses.

Tjaden says the fee will show up as a new charge on resident’s monthly bill from Algona Municipal Utilities.

The ordinance will go into effect on March 20th, and Algona residents will see the $2 charge on their AMU bill in April.
