–The Algona Community School District is accepting bids for the demolition of the former school building in Lu Verne. Superintendent Joe Carter addressed the school board during a special meeting Monday night, where the board approved the bidding documents for the project.
Carter says residents of LuVerne have made it clear they do not want the building to be left up where it could become an eye sore, now that it is no longer in use.
The district is accepting bids through the middle of April. The building does contain asbestos, so that will need to be removed properly before the rest of the building can be torn down.
