–Area residents voiced concerns to the Kossuth County Board of Supervisors during a public hearing on the proposed property tax levy for the 2024-2025 fiscal year Tuesday afternoon. Auditor Tammy Eden outlined the numbers for those in attendance.

The increase in requested tax dollars comes out to about $1.7 Million from the previous fiscal year, causing many to ask where that increase is supposed to come from.

The idea of a double-digit property tax increase left many scratching their heads as to why it’s needed.

Those in attendance asked the board to make some tough budget choices that would make it possible to avoid the tax increase.

The board is tentatively looking at holding their official budget hearing on April 16th, but that date could not be officially set today.
