–A Forest City man had to be life-flighted following a single vehicle accident in rural Winnebago County over the weekend.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, 30-year-old Kevin Mikhail Jones was traveling southbound on US Highway 69 just south of Leland in a 2008 Ford EcoSport around 11:15 PM Saturday. The accident report states that Jones failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway and entered the west ditch, where the vehicle rolled multiple times.
Jones was ejected from the vehicle, as the accident report states he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He was transported by Mercy Air Med to MercyOne Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City. The accident remains under investigation.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Forest City Police, Fire and Ambulance.
