Algona Stop Leads to Pair of Arrests

–A traffic stop Saturday night in Algona resulted in both the driver and a passenger being taken into custody.

According to the Algona Police Department, Officers received a report of a suspicious vehicle just before 10 PM Saturday. After locating the vehicle and conducting a stop, Officers arrested the driver, identified as 27-year-old Mariah Marie Hocking of Humboldt on charges of Driving While Barred.

Officers also arrested a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 47-year-old Anthony William George of Webster City. George is being charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance–Methamphetamine, Possession of a Controlled Substance–Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Court records show both George and Hocking were booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance.

Hocking is also facing charges following an incident that occurred Sunday afternoon. The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office reports that Hocking was stopped while driving Sunday around 1:30 PM in Algona. To go along with a 2nd charge of Driving while Barred, she is also being charged with Driving Without the Owners Consent and 4th Degree Criminal Mischief. She is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing in Kossuth County District Court on May 8th.
