–A traffic accident in northern Kossuth County Tuesday morning resulted in the arrest of a Whittemore man on multiple drug related charges.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to the report of an accident near the intersection of 450th Street and 45th Avenue, about 3 miles NW of Swea City, just after 5:45 AM Tuesday. An investigation determined that an eastbound 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by 29-year-old Dakota Carl Mullen of Whittemore, had crossed the centerline and sideswiped a 2014 Ford F150, driven by 66-year-old Michael James Hansen of Swea City.
When emergency personnel arrived, K9 Officer Thor alerted on the Mullen vehicle. Following a search of the vehicle, Deputies arrested Mullen on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine—3rd offense, Possession of Marijuana—3rd Offense, OWI 2nd Offense, Interference with Official Acts, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Mullen was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance. Damage to his vehicle was estimated at $5,000. Hansen reported possible minor injuries, but was not transported from the scene. Damage to his truck was estimated at $5,000.
