–The Algona Morwens Kiwanis Club will be disbanding at the end of the month after serving area residents for over 50 years. Morwens President Bob Jennings tells KLGA News that declining membership forced the decision.
The Algona Morwens Kiwanis Club received its charter on October 1st, 1971. It was the first club chartered by Algona native Wes Bartlett, who served as President of Kiwanis International from 1971-1972. Jennings says they will hold their final meeting next week.
The club is working on a plan to distribute any remaining funds.
The Algona Noon Kiwanis Club is still operating, and Morwens members have been offered the chance to join that group.
