–A pair of Algona residents were taken into custody late last week facing theft charges as the result of alleged incidents from 2021 and 2022.
According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies arrested 60-year-old Christopher Allen Shaffer last Thursday evening on a valid warrant for 2nd Degree Theft, a Class D Felony. Deputies also arrested 50-year-old Dena Renee Shaffer on a warrant for 4th Degree Theft, a serious misdemeanor.
Online court records show the charges against Christopher Shaffer are the result of an investigation into an alleged incident in December of 2021. A criminal complaint filed back in August alleges Shaffer implemented an advertising system in the TVs at the Chrome Truck stop without authority and kept the revenues for himself.
A separate criminal complaint filed against Dena Shaffer alleges took customer rewards at IHOP, redeemed them for cash and kept them for herself.
Both defendants were booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
