–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors made some slight adjustments to the proposal submitted to them by the county’s compensation board regarding elected official’s salaries for the coming fiscal year during their meeting this week. Newly appointed board chair Carter Nath went over the compensation board’s initial recommendations.
5th District Supervisor Amber Garman says the board needs to look towards the future when it comes to setting these salaries.
The board voted 3-2 (Haas and Stecker against) to amend proposal from the compensation board to include a 7% increase for the County Sheriff and 4% increases for the other elected officials in the county. This decision is not final, and the board will continue discussions through the budgeting process before they have a budget hearing this spring.
