–The Algona Middle School 7th & 8th Grade band has been selected to participate in a conference for music professionals later this spring. Middle School Band Director Kurt Kissinger tells KLGA News that the students will have a chance to perform at the Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference this May in Des Moines.
Kissinger says the selection process draws competition from all across the state of Iowa.
When he found out that they had been selected, Kissinger says he was more than excited.
With an extra performance now on the schedule, Kissinger says they will have to increase practice time for the students.
Kissinger says they will also make sure the students are ready for a longer performance.
The Iowa Bandmasters Association annual conference will be held from May 15-17 at the Marriott Hotel in downtown Des Moines. You can find out more about the event at www.bandmasters.org.
