–A group of county employees once again raised concerns over proposed changes to their insurance coverage during the Kossuth County Board of Supervisors meeting this week. One sticking point is the possibility of the county offering employees a high-deductible plan and what it might do to their current coverage.
Supervisor Amber Garman says these insurance issues are causing instability for the county’s employees.
Board chairman Carter Nath says it might be prudent to implement changes at a later time.
The board will continue insurance discussions over the next few weeks as they try to finalize the county budget for the next fiscal year. It’s possible the county could save some money by offering a high-deductible insurance plan. Last year, the board approved changes that required employees on the county’s family insurance plan to pay $250 a month towards their coverage.
