–Winter weather has reeked-havoc on local school districts over the last few weeks even though we’re closing in on Spring. Algona Schools Superintendent Joe Carter tells KLGA News they try to plan ahead so students don’t have to make up time at the end of the year.

Last week’s blizzard and clean up resulted in the district canceling classes on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Carter says that while they do always have extra time in their schedule to account for bad weather, the total number is not the same from year-to-year.

If the weather cooperates for the rest of the schoolyear, Algona Schools will dismiss for the year on May 21st.
