–The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors pledged $250,000 in support of the grandstand renovation project at the fairgrounds in Algona during their meeting this week. The grandstand is over 100 years old and needs a complete renovation to maintain spectator safety. Joe Thilges with the Kossuth County Fair Board addressed the supervisors during their meeting on Tuesday and gave them an update on the fundraising efforts.

5th District Supervisor Amber Garman says she supports the project, but she wants to make sure the board’s decision makes sense financially.

4th District Supervisor Kyle Stecker says any payment the board makes needs to keep future budgets in mind.

The $250,000 will be paid out over a five-year period, with an initial payment of $50,000. Fair board officials say they have received pledges of over $600,000 towards the grandstand project thus far.
