–The Kossuth County Board of supervisors held a public hearing on the proposed property tax levy for the coming fiscal year during a special session Tuesday afternoon. The board took comments for over 90 minutes from area residents, many of whom expressed concerns about the level of spending in the county. Richard Miller was the first to address the board during the hearing.

The proposed property tax asking from the 2025-2026 fiscal year is around 4.5% higher than the current budget. Tom Cink says last year’s budgeting process ended up hurting taxpayers across the county.

Charlie Laubenthal also addressed the board and asked them to look at the places where the county spends the most money.

The board will schedule their official budget hearing during their meeting next week.
