–Members of the Kossuth County Fair Board addressed the Algona City Council during a work session Monday as they continue a fundraising campaign to replace the aging grandstand and make other renovations around the fairgrounds. Morgan Muller informed the council that part of their fundraising effort included a feasibility study provided by a company based out of central Iowa.

So far, the campaign has brought in a little over $1 Million in donations and pledges, closing in on the more than $1.5 million goal. While a timeline is not set in stone, Muller says they are hopeful work on the grandstand can begin this fall.

Muller says the grandstand project is just Phase 1 of many planned improvements on the fairgrounds.

Scott Schultze also addressed the council and outlined the type of support they are hoping to receive from the city.

Earlier this spring the Kossuth County Board of Supervisors pledged $250,000 over a 5-year period towards the projects. The city council will take up the funding request at a future meeting.
