–A Palo Alto County man was cited following a one-vehicle rollover accident early Friday morning south of Emmetsburg.

According to the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to the report of a single-vehicle accident in the 4100 Block of Iowa HWY 4, three miles south of Emmetsburg just after 5:30 AM Friday.

Upon arrival, Deputies discovered the vehicle was unoccupied. A preliminary investigation found the 2008 Pontiac G6, registered to a Robert Eugene Leuer, was traveling southbound on HWY 4 when it left the road surface. It appears the driver over corrected while trying to get back on the highway, and the vehicle crossed the centerline and ended up in the east ditch, where it overturned.

Deputies also learned that the driver of the vehicle was 30-year-old John Bennet Leuer of Mallard. He was cited for failure to maintain control and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He was given a court date of June 25th.

The vehicle was considered a total loss.
