-For the second year in a row, North Union junior Drew Henderson is heading to the class 1A boys high school state golf meet, as Henderson qualified on Monday out of the district hosted by Gehlen Catholic with an 18 hole score of 79.  Henderson would finish tied for 5th place, securing the final qualifying spot by one stroke.  It would take a bit of a second half rally, as Henderson started off with a 42 over the front 9, before shooting a 37 on the back 9.  Henderson will golf at the class 1A state meet from the South Hills Golf Course in Waterloo next Tuesday and Wednesday.

-In that same district, Bishop Garrigan’s boys golf team would record a score of 374 to place 12th, as their season comes to an end.  The top 3 teams in each district advance on to state, with the top 3 at this district being Boyden-Hull in 1st place with a team score of 311, Woodbury Central in 2nd with 334, and Akron Westfield in 3rd with 341.  Senior Drew Muller recorded an 86 over the 18 holes to pace the Golden Bears.  Also competing for Bishop Garrigan were Sam Greteman, who shot a 93, Teague Alesch, with a 97, Nick Thul with a 98, and Isaac DeLange with a 103.

-In class 3A, Algona sophomore Nathan Manske competed in the district meet in Orange City at the Landsmeer Golf Course.  Manske would miss out on qualifying for state by one stroke, as the Bulldog sophomore shot an 80 over the 18 holes to place 9th. The two individual qualifiers from the district would be Humboldt’s Cade Birdsell, who shot a 77 to take 3rd, and Spirit Lake’s Jaizik Miller, who shot a 79 to place 6th.  Second place and ninth place were separated by just two strokes. MOC-Floyd Valley, Spencer, and Webster City all punched their class 3A state tickets as teams.
