–Organizers of the annual Bike Ride Around Kossuth, better known as BRAK, are making some changes to this year’s event to try and increase participation. Justin Davis serves as the Secretary for the Algona Rotary Club, who organize the event, and he says the number of riders for BRAK had dropped in recent years, so they decided to rebrand this fundraising effort.
Davis says they are hopeful that making the ride a bit more family friendly will help them draw more participants and raise more money to provide bikes to area youngsters.
The ride will take place Saturday morning, and if you missed the preregistration deadline, you can still sign up prior to the start Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 AM.
Members of the Algona Rotary Club put in countless hours organizing BRAK each year, but Davis says the event would not be possible without the help of local bike builder Eldon Meyer.
The cost is $25 per rider (5 and under free), which includes a wristband for the meal and activities at Central Park. If you don’t want to ride but want to enjoy the festivities afterwards, you can purchase a wristband at the park for just $10, and that includes the meal as well, from 10AM-1PM.
