Multiple Arrests Made in Burt Area Burglary Case

–Three Algona residents are facing theft and weapons charges after they were taken into custody Thursday in connection with an alleged incident in the Burt area last week.

According to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, Deputies received the report of a burglary and theft at 1309 300th Street, just east of Burt on June 17th. The reporting party indicated that a lock box with a handgun was stolen from within the residence. It was also reported that the lockbox contained an undetermined amount of cash.

Deputies began gathering evidence and information that led them to identify three suspects in the case. On Thursday, Deputies located the suspects and arrested 20-year-old Edwin Bergstrom-Erlandson, 18-year-old Mason Leeper and 18-year-old Heaven Jorgensen, all from Algona.

Each defendant is being charged with:

–2 Counts of 2nd Degree Burglary (Class C Felony)

–2nd Degree Theft (Class D Felony)

–Trafficking a Stolen Weapon (Class D Felony)

The missing cash was recovered, while the search for the stolen weapon continues. Each defendant was booked into the Kossuth County Jail to await an initial court appearance.
