–The Algona City Council approved a professional service agreement this week that will pave the way for a traffic control device study at a pair of intersections along Highway 169. Matt Cole with Bolton & Menk outlined the study, which would allow the city to apply for a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation’s “Traffic Safety Improvement Program”, better known as TSIP.
Cole says the study will provide the DOT with the data needed to get grant funding for the signals at those intersections.
The traffic study will be conducted over the next few weeks, as the TSIP grant application is due in mid-August.
