Humboldt County Man Sentenced to 25 Years in Federal Prison

–A Humboldt County man who eluded law enforcement officials on more than one occasion last year has been sentenced to 25-years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug charges earlier this year.

40-year-old Nathan E. Nickless of Dakota City received the sentence on September 4th after pleading guilty to charges of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute back in April.

In August of 2023, Fort Dodge Police attempted to pull over a truck Nickless was driving. Nickless led officers on a chase and then fled on foot after crashing his truck into another vehicle. In the process, Nickless dropped a backpack that had a 9MM pistol, methamphetamines, and marijuana inside, that was recovered by police.

Nickless was eventually arrested and allowed to remain out on bail awaiting a trial date in July of 2024. When he failed to show up for the trial, warrants were issued for his arrest. Nickless manage to elude law enforcement on multiple occasions before he was arrested on October 2nd when he was found hiding at a residence in Humboldt.

Along with the 25-year prison sentence, Nickless will be required to serve a 10-year term of supervised release after his prison term has been completed.
