–The Algona Public Library saw big numbers coming through their doors this summer, taking part in a wide variety of programs. Library staff presented some numbers to the Algona City Council during their meeting on Monday, with Young Adult Librarian Sonya Harsha highlighting the increase in foot traffic.
The library’s summer reading program had over 650 participants, with over half completing all of the reading goals for their age group. Harsha says that’s just one of many programs that helped bring more people into the library.
With all those people coming in and out, Harsha says they kept the circulation desk busy.
Harsha told the council that they partnered with several area businesses and non-profit organizations to make these programs possible, and they will do all they can to bring them back again in the future.
